How it works
The code stores a standard mailto link — the same format an “email us” button uses. When someone scans it, their phone opens a new email to your address. A subject you set is filled in; the message is theirs to write. Nothing sends automatically.
- Enter the address you want messages to arrive at.
- Add a subject that tells you where the scan happened — “Window sign”, “Flyer”, “Receipt” — so each placement reports itself.
- Optional: add your logo, pick a pattern style and match the colors to your brand.
- Download a PNG for screens or an SVG for your print shop.
Where businesses put theirs
- Feedback cards on tables: “ Tell us how we did” — a scan opens a ready email instead of a form nobody fills in.
- Window stickers: “Email us for quotes” after hours, when nobody answers the phone.
- Flyers and mailers: a low-friction reply option for people who won't call but will type two lines.
- Product packaging: “Questions about this product? Email us.”
Good to know
- The subject is your analytics. Static codes have no tracking, so use a different subject per placement — the replies tell you which sign earns its space.
- It opens a draft, not a send button. The customer always sees and sends the message — which is exactly why people trust scanning it.
- Keep the quiet zone. The white border around the code is part of how scanners lock on. Print at 2 cm / 0.8 in or larger, test with two phones.
Common questions
What does an email QR code do when scanned?
It opens the scanning phone's email app with a new message to your address — and, if you set one, the subject already filled in. The customer just taps send. Nothing is sent without them doing that.
Is this email QR code generator free?
Yes. No signup, no account, no watermark. The code is generated in your browser and the PNG and SVG downloads are yours to use anywhere.
Can I pre-fill the subject line?
Yes, and it's worth doing. A subject like 'Winter menu sign-up' tells you exactly where the scan came from — every sign, flyer and window sticker can carry a different subject, so you learn which one works.
Do email QR codes work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Both camera apps recognize the standard mailto format the code encodes and open the email app with the draft ready.
Can I add my logo to the code?
Yes. Upload your logo and it appears in the center of the code; error correction is raised to its highest level (30%) to keep it scannable. You can also pick a pattern style and shape the corner eyes to match your brand.
More than a code
Profit can build the whole campaign
An email code is one asset. Tell Profit what you’re promoting and it drafts the full set — a short video, social captions, a QR code, an email and more, all sharing the same message.
