How to make a menu QR code
- Paste the link to your menu — a page on your website, a PDF, or a shared document.
- Optional: add your logo, pick a pattern style (rounded, dots, diamond) and shape the corner eyes to match your brand. The tool warns you before downloading colors phones may struggle with.
- Check the preview — hover to zoom in on the details — then download a PNG for screens and social posts, or an SVG for print shops (it stays sharp at any size).
- Need signs? Use Print table sign to get an A5 sheet with your name and the code, ready to print and place on tables, the counter, or the front window.
Getting the sign right
- Size matters. A code should be at least 1/10th of the scanning distance: on a table (about 50 cm / 20 in away) that means 5 cm / 2 in or bigger. A window sign scanned from the sidewalk needs to be much larger.
- Keep the quiet zone. The white border around the code is part of how scanners lock on. Don’t crop it or run text into it.
- Contrast wins. Dark code on a light background scans best. This tool warns you before downloading colors that phones may struggle with.
- Test with two phones. One older phone and one newer one, in the light customers will actually have. That’s the whole quality check that matters.
One thing every owner should know
A printed QR code is static — it points at one link forever. If your menu link changes, the printed signs stop working, so keep the printed code pointed at a link you control (ideally your own domain) rather than a third-party page you might close later. If you update your menu often, host it at a stable address like yourrestaurant.com/menu and update the content there instead of reprinting.
Common questions
Is this menu QR code generator really free?
Yes. There is no signup, no account and no watermark. Codes are generated in your browser, and the PNG and SVG downloads are yours to use on signs, menus and marketing with no restrictions.
How do I make a QR code for my restaurant menu?
Paste the link to your menu — a page on your website, a PDF or a shared document — then download a PNG for screens or an SVG for printing, or use the table-sign button to print an A5 sign.
Can I add my logo to the QR code?
Yes. Upload your logo and it appears in the center of the code. The space underneath is cleared and error correction is raised to its highest level (30%) to keep the code scannable. You can also pick a pattern style (rounded, dots, diamond) and shape the corner eyes to match your brand — then test the finished code with two phones.
What size should a menu QR code be?
A code should be at least one tenth of the scanning distance. On a table, where customers sit about 50 cm (20 in) away, that means at least 5 cm (2 in) across. Window signs scanned from farther away need to be proportionally larger.
Do menu QR codes ever stop working?
A printed QR code always points at the same link. The code itself never expires, but if the page it points to moves or closes, the sign stops working — which is why it's best to print codes that point at a web address you control.
More than a code
Profit can build the whole campaign
Table signs are one piece of promoting a restaurant. Tell Profit what you’re promoting — a new menu, a happy hour, a catering offer — and it drafts a short video, social captions, a QR code, an email and more, all sharing the same message.
