How it works
The code holds a standard vCard — the same format email apps use to exchange contacts. When someone scans it, their phone shows a contact card with your details pre-filled and a “Save” button. It works with iPhone and Android cameras, no app needed.
- Enter the name you want saved (yours or your business).
- Add phone, email and website — every field you include gets stored in the code, so include what you want people to keep and skip the rest.
- Optional: add your logo, pick a pattern style and match your brand colors — a contrast warning appears if phones may struggle to scan.
- Download a PNG for digital use or an SVG for your print shop to place on cards.
Placing it on a card
- Minimum size: 2 cm / 0.8 in across — a business card is scanned from about 20 cm away.
- Keep the quiet zone: the white margin around the code is required. Ask your designer not to crop it or place it on a busy background.
- Label it: a small “Scan to save my contact” line doubles scan rates — people don’t scan codes they can’t explain.
- Contrast: dark code on light background. This tool warns you if your colors fall below what phones reliably read.
Good to know
The code is static — it stores your details directly, which means it works forever with no account or subscription, but it also can’t be edited after printing. If your phone number or email changes, generate and print a new one. Test the finished card with two phones before ordering a full print run.
Common questions
What is a vCard QR code?
It's a QR code containing a vCard — the standard contact format email apps use. When someone scans it with their phone camera, they see a pre-filled contact card with your name, phone, email and website, ready to save.
Do contact QR codes need a special app to scan?
No. The built-in camera apps on iPhone and Android both open vCard QR codes and offer to save the contact.
Can I update my contact QR code after printing?
No — the details are encoded in the code itself, which is also why it works forever without any subscription. If your phone number, email or website changes, generate and print a new code.
Can I add my logo to the contact QR code?
Yes. Upload your logo and it appears in the center of the code; error correction is raised to its highest level (30%) to keep it scannable. You can also pick a pattern style (rounded, dots, diamond) and shape the corner eyes — on a business card, keep the logo small and test the printed card with two phones.
How big should the QR code be on a business card?
At least 2 cm (0.8 in) across, with the white quiet-zone border intact, dark modules on a light background, and a short 'Scan to save my contact' label to encourage scanning.
